Express paceman Shoaib Akhtar has been left out of Pakistan's squad for the tour of England.
The selectors have named a 16-man party, but Akhtar is not among the six fast bowlers chosen.
He is struggling to regain fitness following an ankle fracture and had already been ruled out of the first two Tests, which take place at Lord's (July 13-17) and Old Trafford (July 27-31).
The latest scans revealed Akhtar's ankle has yet to heal properly, and it now appears unlikely he will take any part in the tour, although chief selector Wasim Bari left the door open.
"Akhtar was ruled out for six weeks, so we would assess his fitness after this period and then only consider (a decision) on his selection for the later part of the tour," said Bari.
The main surprise in Pakistan's squad is medium pacer Shahid Nazir, who has been recalled after a lengthy spell in the international wilderness.
Nazir, 28, made the last of his eight Test appearances against Sri Lanka back in 1999, but has been rewarded for some good form in domestic cricket.
Pakistan squad: Inzamam-ul-Haq (captain), Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik, Salman Butt, Imran Farhat, Kamran Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Danish Kaneria, Faisal Iqbal, Mohammad Sami, Naved-ul-Hasan, Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul, Shahid Nazir. Reserves: Taufeeq Umer, Asim Kamal, Zulqarnain Haider, Rao Iftikhar.

Mushy hasn't retired from Tests, nor has Saqlain Mushtaq - but I believe he didn't play any domestic first-class cricket in Pakistan last winter, which may have ruled him out of consideration. Interesting that they've picked six quicks and only one specialist spinner - they're obviously expecting seaming wickets. I remember seeing Shahid Nazir in the one-day series here in 1996 - surprised he's only 28!
