Cult Ashes hero Gary Pratt is one of four players to be released by Durham. The 23-year-old hit the headlines when he dismissed Aussie captain Ricky Ponting while acting as a substitute fielder during the fourth Ashes Test.
The former Durham Academy player also joined the England squad on their victory parade through London.
Durham have also decided not to renew the contracts of spinner Graeme Bridge, former captain Jon Lewis and batsman James Lowe.
Pratt made his first-class debut in 2000 but struggled to break into the County Championship side.
His highest first-class score was 150, which he achieved against Northants at the Riverside in 2003.
Durham head coach Martyn Moxon said: "We will be announcing new signings in due course."

It's a shame, but I think they might have let him go last year actually if it hadn't been for his Ashes connection. Can he go to Australia with the team anyway?
