Rain affected games - Setting a Target
« on: May 27, 2006, 09:36 AM »

The scores over night were:

Northamptonshire 386 Vs Derbyshire 58/2* (Northampton)
Somerset 314 Vs Leicestershire 254 & 145/4* (Taunton)
Hampshire 271 Vs Kent 195/7* (The Rose Bowl)
Middlesex 520/9d Vs Warwickshire 362/7* (Lord's)
Lancashire 278/7* Vs Nottinghamshire 253 (Old Trafford)

Seeing as the common consenus is that you need to win games to do be competetive in the County Championship, what do we think the captains might do to try for a result?

Are these all finishing today? I don't think Leicestershire wil be in any position to set a target, they're battling to avoid defeat.

All ending today.

Looks like they are all heading for a draw now.

With the possible exception of Hampshire vs Kent, but still likely to be a draw.

Warwickshire are still batting 401-9 so obviously they just want the bonus points. Otherwise they should have declared as soon as they saved the follow-on. There's been a lot of rain around this week, it's hit the county games hard.  Sad

We've had almost continuous rain since they implemented the latest hosepipe ban.  Angry And the water boards are all saying that the latest rain isn't helping at all.

Apparently the dry winter was to blame.

Hmmm, nothing todo with the water boards pipelines leaking however many gallons of water a day then!  Roll Eyes

I can't remember when our last hosepipe ban was but it certainly was'nt until End July / August time.
