Sophia Gardens - Ashes 2009
« on: August 08, 2006, 19:58 PM »

Long way away but it's great news that Cardiff will be hosting a test match.

Read an article the other day about Ian Botham adding to the 'controversy' other Cardiff being chosen other other venues. Bit unfair really, and looking at the details for the new Gardens it's more than worthy.

About time too IMO.

Well it might wake up some of the other teams as they realise their test status might not be secure.

Its about time that some tests were played elsewhere in the country, share it amongst the supporters!

Yeah, it's a bit discriminatory otherwise. I can understand why some people think it's wrong going to Cardiff after many tests in England only but it makes sense to include everyone, almost like Britain instead of England.

Following the completion of the development scheme, the Sophia Gardens ground will have a total seating capacity of 15, 643.

A total of 1,439 existing permanent seats would be retained in the Taff and Premier stands, with an additional 14,204 permanent seats being added in the New Pavilion, Grandstand, Cathedral Road Stand, Entrance Stand and Riverside Stand.

Anyone got any pictures of the proposed stadium?

What are the capacities of the other test / county grounds?
