The West Indies have brought in five uncapped players to their provisional squad of 30 players for the World Cup, which begins in the Caribbean in March. Keiron Pollard, Patrick Browne, Travis Dowlin, Gavin Tonge and Reyad Emrit are in the squad for the first time.
Emrit was named in a 14-man squad for a series of four one-day internationals against India later this month.
Batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan will miss the trip as he recovers from a foot injury but all-rounder Dwayne Bravo returns.
There are also recalls for opener Devon Smith and all-rounder Darren Sammy.
"They have been included because you do not know what might happen in the next few weeks," said convenor of selectors Gordon Greenidge.
"We have a few injuries, and we want to have a look at a few players at international level to see what they have to offer."
The series in India begins on 21 January and spans just 10 days. The final World Cup squad must be announced by 13 February.
