Still a classy player, and has enjoyed a decent start to the season so far.

I missed his 292 against Gloucester, but saw him at Whitgift on Saturday. Pity he got out just short of 50 but I don't suppose that'll bother him. Nice little knock, but with Surrey chasing a low target there was no real pressure on him.

Tell me a bit about Surrey playing at the Whitgift School. Coming from that way i'm intrigued, i'm assuming its a private school? all i can think of it the Whitgift shopping centre!  Roll Eyes

Whitgift is a "public" school (i.e. fee-paying Wink) on the Brighton Road in south Croydon. Easy to get to, it's only 20 minutes by train from London. I went with a friend from north London. I could've gone there, I sat the entrance exam in the 1970s!  Grin Nice ground, and quite a big playing area. Good batting wickets too! The reason Surrey play there is one of their former players (David Ward) is a teacher there now and he arranged a fixture. Won one, lost one this year.

So if i was coming in from the M25 / M23 direction is it the massive grounds on the left hand side near all those bloody roadworks? or am i thinking of somewhere different?

I know how to get to Selhurst Park but thats about it!

Yeah, the M23/A23 is the Brighton Road. I suppose by road you'd just take the main road north through Coulsdon and Purley. Plenty of roadworks at the moment as you say. My parents live nearby so I left the car at their place and took the train to South Croydon (5 mins walk from the ground).

Incidentally I wrote up a report of my trip to Whitgift on the Extra-Cover.com homepage, but they haven't got round to publishing it yet. Keep an eye out for it!  Grin
