He's had a good start to the season with the bat, averaging 50 in the Championship, and took four wickets against Leicestershire yesterday. Any chance of an England recall do you think? By general agreement he's a better player than when he played for England. My only concern is he tends to be very expensive in the one-day games.

I read an article yesterday tipping him for a return to the One Day squad, i'll guess we'll find out soon.

I would think he's the obvious back-up all-rounder if Flintoff has to miss any of the ODIs. I'd be a bit concerned about him having to bowl 10 overs though. But he'd probably share his allocation with Collingwood.

He's missed out on the one-day squad then!  Huh

There were a couple of interesting inclusions in the squad!  Roll Eyes

A fast hundred against Leics today - the perfect answer to the selectors. Surrey piling on the runs, 640-6!

They've got Leicester 6 wickets down overnight, so another early Saturday win looks likely!

I see Mark Butcher is pushing for Rikki Clarke's inclusion in the England squad.

I'm sure Badger will know a lot more about him, so Badger what do you think? Is he good enough for the England team?

Sorry, just seen this.

I think we talked about Clarke the other day. He's in great form with the bat but it's a bowling all-rounder we need! He isn't really a Test number 8 (and first-change seamer) I'm afraid. And there are no vacancies in the England top order right now - it's going to be hard enough getting Flintoff and Vaughan back in the line-up!

Hope he plays in the OD series though.

The only people who should be pressing for Clarke's recall to England colours are his prospective international opponents. This guy is not and never will be international standard. I mean, look at his hair!

He's having his best ever season with the bat, and his hair's better than it was -  but he bowls too many 4-balls.

England have Trescothick, Strauss and Cook - they don't really need another left-handed opener do they. Newman is a good player but it might turn out to be wrong place and time for him as far as England is concerned.
