Warwickshire have signed South African spin bowler Paul Harris, who has agreed a contract until the end of the 2007 county season. The club have had to manage without a specialist spin bowler since New Zealander Daniel Vettori returned home last month because of a back injury.
Harris, 27, has been playing Lancashire League cricket for Fleetwood.
"It was a very big decision but I am sure I have made the right one for my future," the left-armer said.
Harris, who was born in Zimbabwe, made his first-class debut during the 1998-99 South African season.
He has since taken 109 wickets at a cost of 28.75 runs each in spells for Northerns, Titans and Western Province.
"We have done a lot of research into a suitable replacement (for Vettori).
"Paul is a very experienced player and will add value and depth to the current squad," said Warwickshire's Director of Cricket Mark Greatbatch.
