Worcestershire have signed uncapped Australian pace bowler Doug Bollinger as their second overseas player for the forthcoming county season.
The 25-year-old will join compatriot Phil Jaques at New Road.

"We have been looking for a left-armer to give balance to our attack and who is available for the whole season.

"Doug has a strong work ethic and is currently enjoying an excellent season for New South Wales," said Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes.

"Our success last season was a result of our strong team ethic and everything I have heard about Doug leads me to believe he will fit in superbly."

Worcestershire were forced to consider other options because Zaheer Khan, who proved such a huge success in 2006, will not be available for much of the summer after regaining his place in India's national team.

Nathan Bracken was considered, but the club opted for Bollinger after consulting Jaques and Glenn McGrath, who are his team-mates in state cricket.

His overall first-class record of 48 wickets in 23 matches is nothing special but 22 have come in five games this season and he is seen as an improving bowler.

"This is a great opportunity for me to progress my career and I can assure all the Worcestershire supporters that they will get 100% effort from me," he commented.
